Music Monday with Feist

You may know Leslie Feist (known simply as Feist) as one of the members of indie rock legends Broken Social Scene, or you may have heard her songs on an episode of Grey's Anatomy or that really catchy iPod Nano commercial. Feist is one of those rare indie artists who has managed to gain wide success in the pop world without compromising her vision or style.

We love Feist, and we are totally digging her new album Metals, where she once again crafts beautiful, bittersweet songs about the inevitable unravelling of love. It may be an age old story, but she makes it sound fresh every time.

MagnaPaint.

Julie Bonifay is the artist in residence at MAGNAPAINT on Etsy. Her amazing shape hand-painted prints are making their way on to must own lists all over the blogging and artists communities.

Besides being colorful and striking renderings, they are also perfectly priced. As Erin Loechner from DESIGN FOR MANKIND said, "Hello, affordable paintings! I’m Erin, and I will take you home now."

Style It Out.

We paired up with the always cool Revolve Clothing and had ourselves a little style out party. There are so many amazing items to choose from, (we may or may not have) spent a little time shopping while we were at it.

Please note, any one of these outfits can be added to. Just throw on a pair of tights, a cozy sweater or an an awesome overcoat and these are instant warm to cold weather closet staples.

What do you think? Which look is your favorite??

one to watch: Jenna Elizabeth

As the granddaughter of critically acclaimed jazz drummer Chuck Flores, it's no surprise filmmaker Jenna Elizabeth Kirkutis has an unusual relationship with music and film. Since studying at Emerson College for film in Boston, Jenna Elizabeth has worked with subjects such as Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Alison Mosshart of The Dead Weather, Willie Nelson. and has even collaborated with notorious fashion photographer Terry Richardson. She's now working on her Shot In The Dark collection, the first film of which, The Third Degree, is already receiving Sundance buzz.

This girl is one to watch, not only for her artistic talent but for her unique, utterly confident sense of style.

our love affair continues

Our love affair with the turband continues, thanks to this video by LEAFtv.

Music Monday for the Broken Hearts Club

In the history of music, there's no shortage of songs about broken hearts. Lost love, unrequited love...everyone from Bob Dylan to Madonna to Arcade Fire has weighed in on the topic. But in our opinion, Belgian-Australian musician Gotye has summed up the feeling of a breakup better than anyone else. His lyrics and vocals cut straight to the heart of it. This song has been getting some major airplay lately, and we can see why. After giving it a listen, and watching this amazing music video, we think you'll agree.

Let us know, what else is on your breakup mix tape?

BOOK CLUB: Bossypants

Before she was head writer for SNL, or writing awesome comedies like Mean Girls, or developing and starring in her own hilarious sitcom called 30 Rock, Tina Fey was just an awkward adolescent theater nerd growing up in small town Pennsylvania. Now one of the most influential women in television, and one of the funniest people on the planet, Tina Fey has blessed us with her memoir. Sharing her thoughts on topics ranging from struggles of a working mother ("There's a drunk midget in my house") to her pursuit of physical beauty ("I once left a restaurant in the middle of dessert to get to Krispy Kreme before it closed") Tina Fey will have you laughing out loud for a good 3/4 of this book.

What are you waiting for? Go read it.
