furry friends

Coconut is the feline friend of Jamie, who works in our Purchasing Department. Coconut is a true lady who enjoys the finer things in life, such as a good hairbrushing every day. Coconut finds her patience tested by her annoying little brother, Bananas, but like the lady she is, Coconut weathers any storm with grace and poise. Jamie gave us a glimpse into Coconut's inner thoughts.

let's ride!

One of the best things about spring is that it's warm enough to ride our bikes all the time. There's nothing better than a carefree day spent cruising around with friends, to the beach, to the flea market, to grab lunch and eat outside in the sunshine. These drawings by Adams Carvalho have inspired us to take our bikes out for a spin this weekend. Do you have a bike? Where are your favorite places to ride in your town?

Soup Du Friday.

We hear it's freezing on the East Coast today and thought we would share a yummy recipe to warm you up for the weekend. This is Roasted Cauliflower and Aged White Cheddar soup, how delish does that sound??

Our advice to you is stay warm, it will most likely be 80 tomorrow (hello weird & crazy weather) and enjoy your weekend.

Recipe is found here

Summer Wear.

Love it.

Here we styled out a casual every day look featuring our POUT wedges.

In our own estimation, dare we say another rad look for Coachella and the rest of the Summer concerts that are coming up soon.

We think yes.

Heart of Los Angeles.

Heart of Los Angeles, better known around the community as HOLA, is an amazing after school youth program in downtown Los Angeles. It provides its students with free classes that run the gamut from education to music to sports and a little bit of everything in between.

We here at Seychelles & BC, had the privilege of welcoming a group of their students to our offices on Friday where we showed them to ropes of what goes into our shoes from conception to production.

We had an amazing time and can't wait to do more events with them in the near future.

furry friends

Customer Service Representative Adrienne has one of the most enviable wardrobes in the office. So it's no surprise that her pooch, Lucy, also demonstrates killer style.

Age: She'll be 3 in June

What kind of dog is Lucy? Tibetan Terrier.

Likes: Being photographed, playing tag (you’ll always be “it”), snacks, new toys, and car rides (if she is going somewhere fun).

Dislikes: Fireworks, mugs, cardboard boxes, people wearing hats/hoods, and car rides (if she is going to the groomer or vet).

Where are her favorite places to hang out?
The kitchen because that’s where all the food is, in her crate when she wants alone time, and near the living room window to watch the world outside.

What's her favorite treat?
Anything she can get into her mouth, but goes
crazy for french fries.

What's the best thing about having a furry friend?
Coming home to a wagging tail. No matter what, she is always happy to see me when I get home.

How would you describe Lucy's personal style?
Californian quirk

Music Friday - MMOTHS

KCRW speaks, we listen. A new artist to sink your teeth into is MMOTHS. Hailing from Ireland and only 18, he's already slated for indie scene music domination.

Mario Cotto said, "I had the great pleasure of spinning at the Kitsune Club Night last month that hosted his LA debut. I got a chance to hear his gorgeously atmospheric set and believe he has a very bright future designing elaborate cathedrals of sound."

We're in.

We dare you not to smile while watching this...

Caine is a little boy with a limitless imagination and big dreams. We're not gonna lie, we got a little teary eyed while watching this short film. We hope it brings a little bit of happiness to your day, too.

One Stop Shop - MOD CLOTH.

Bc loves MOD CLOTH

We love one stop shopping. Get in, get out, get what you need. Endless options are a good thing in this always on the go world we live in.

The destination this time was MOD CLOTH. Sifting through everything from kitchen items to clothes, accessories to decor; we landed on a NEED TO OWN filled set that will hopefully land in our living rooms and closets before Summer's end.

What do you think of our choices??

furry friends

The girls in our office aren't the only ones who have style to spare. Our crop of furry friends each have a unique look all their own. We're taking this opportunity to introduce you to a new member of our extended family every week, starting with the unofficial BC Footwear mascot, Miss Gladys.

Claudia, our Customer Service Manager, dishes on her English Bulldog, Miss Gladys Bouvier (Miss Gladys for short).

Age: She'll be 5 in June

Is there a story behind the name Miss Gladys?
I like names that sound old lady-ish, so I was set on Gladys. A friend (and now god-mother to her) was joking and pretending to call for her and called out "Miss Gladys Bouvier, you get back here." It was spot on. Plus, she's a true lady like Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and Marge Bouvier Simpson, so it was perfect.

Likes: Chewing, sleeping, eating, laying her jowls on people.

Dislikes: Oh man, so many things. Skateboards, shopping carts, people on bikes...ok basically anything on wheels. Oh yea, also boxes.

Where are her favorite places to hang out?
In bed, a patch of sun, in between me and my boyfriend.

What's her favorite treat?
Paul Newman Peanut Butter treats. Also, she ate a McRib once and nearly lost her mind. (I's awful.) So, if she was writing this list, that would have to be #1. McRibs.

What's the best thing about having your pup?
Having a little buddy to go on adventures with!

Who is your pup's best friend?
Milo Marie (a portly pug) and Penny (my niece's beautiful rescue pup).

How would you describe Miss Gladys's personal style?
Ladylike with a side of street.

Sienna + Amber.

We dig our FIDGET wedges in Sienna stripe so much so we decided to go into the weekend inspired by this new outfit we put together.

Complete with dope harem pants and accessorized in layers of cream, burnt orange and amber, this would be a great ensemble in some of its parts for Coachella or for the everyday. Up to you ;)

Happy weekend,

Music Thursday - Y La Bamba.

KCRW currently lists Portland based band, Y LA BAMBA as an "ARTIST YOU SHOULD KNOW." We couldn't agree more.

Luzelena Mendoza's voice holds center court and the songs make you want to tap your feet. Get in the know, you heard it here first.

meet super awesome artist (and BC girl) Megan Geckler

It's that time again! We've scoured the globe to find the coolest, most awe-inspiring ladies. Megan Geckler has a job we totally envy. Not only is she living the dream of being a full-time artist, but she's worked with a pretty cool roster of clients. But clearly, it's not all fun and games. This lady works hard. She took a moment between a crazy schedule of art installations to answer a few of our burning questions.

Get Your Paint On.

We've been feeling super crafty lately (as we've discussed) and sometimes lament the fact we are not pros at our passion yet.

We have a good baseline but definitely want to brush up where necessary; so what better place to start, then with this new painting workshop by Lisa Congdon and Mati McDonough called GET YOUR PAINT ON. (thanks for the find SFGIRLBYBAY)

This 5 week course is an art and painting bonanza. Does this describe you?

"Want to start painting but don’t know where or how to begin? Feeling stuck in your existing art practice and need a little kick in the pants? Wondering how others approach their painting process? Seeking a community of like-minded folks with whom to share your painting experience? Want to be inspired by weekly artist interviews, painting prompts and chock full painting lessons?"

Who doesn't want to feel inspired and play it out on canvas with a batch of fresh paint?? As they say, GET YOUR PAINT ON!!

Meet Ki Nassauer.

We found this amazing pic of DIY vintage luggage shelving and decided we needed to find who thought of this and what their story was.

Meet Ki Nassauer, a self proclaimed “Martha Stewart of junk.” She has made her living sifting, creating and displaying her wares and has collected a loyal following along the way. We now consider ourselves members of her community.

You can find her musings as Editor and Chief of Flea Market Style Magazine, as a partner with Etsy in launching Junk Bonanza and as curator of Junk Revolution blog.

So many ideas, so little time.
